What happens to my old email on mailhost1?

Users can keep their old email on mailhost1 indefinitely, as an IMAP archive server. New emails can be copied to this server as well from their bMail account.

Can I move or copy my email from mailhost1 to bMail?

Yes. We are working on a tool to do this. Details coming soon.

What if I accidentally deleted my email?

We can restore deleted SSL email existing prior to Jan. 24th, 2018, but after the switch over to bMail, any email deleted after Jan. 24th, 2018 you will need to contact bConnected.  For more information:

They are staying as-is for now. They will continue to be hosted on the SSL Mailing List server (e.g. Mailman).

Are SSL LDAP accounts (i.e. the one for logging into SSL-AIR) changing?

No. They remain the same.

Please contact us at sysadmin@ssl.berkeley.edu for assistance.

Yes. Contact us at sysadmin@ssl.berkeley.edu and we will start forwarding your new mail to there.

What’s changing with antispam and antivirus scanning? What happening to the SSL Barracuda Spam Firewall (aka mailwall)?

bMail (Google) will be scanning all incoming and outgoing @ssl.berkeley.edu email for spam and viruses. The SSL Barracuda Spam Firewall (aka mailwall) will be switched to “Tag-only” on 1/22/2018; any previously quarantined emails will be forwarded to your inbox tagged as spam instead.
