Your official for SSL email addresses is:

username@ssl.berkeley.edu

The “@ssl.berkeley.edu” is the important part, it should always be included in any email you send. To guarantee that email gets to the person you’re sending it to, make sure you send it only to their email address username@ssl.berkeley.edu. Make sure that mail you send out lists your return address as username@ssl.berkeley.edu. Most modern email programs will let you set this. Make sure that any friends, family or colleagues that send you email are aware of your official email address.

Email addressed to other SSL hosts (e.g. apollo, sunearth) is not officially supported.
